ABOUT MAURER COUGHLIN WRESTLING CLUB

OUR STORY

Maurer Coughlin Wrestling Club (MCWC) was founded in 2010 by lifelong teammates Blake Maurer and Matt Coughlin. After standout high school and collegiate careers—earning state and national championships along with NCAA All-American honors—they returned home with a vision: to build a world-class training environment modeled after the championship standards they experienced at Ohio State University and Indiana University.

Today, MCWC is one of the nation’s premier wrestling clubs, serving more than 250 athletes ages 4–18. As a proud member of the Premier National League (PNL), MCWC is connected with many of the country’s top clubs and coaches, providing athletes with elite training opportunities and national-level competition.

Our practices are built around purposeful drilling, fundamentally sound technique, position-specific training, live wrestling, and mental performance. More importantly, we are committed to developing disciplined, resilient young men and women who pursue excellence in wrestling, academics, and life.

MCWC CO-OWNER & COACH

MATT COUGHLIN

Matt Coughlin is the co-owner of Maurer Coughlin Wrestling Club, which he has helped lead since 2010. During that time, MCWC has developed 65 collegiate wrestlers, 29 Indiana State Champions, 158 State Placers, 252 State Qualifiers, seven Fargo National Champions, 36 Fargo All-Americans, and more than 165 Fargo qualifiers.

Coughlin was named the 2026 USA Wrestling Greco-Roman Developmental Coach of the Year and previously served as Co-Head Coach of the Indiana RTC from 2022–23.

As a competitor, Coughlin was a two-time IHSAA State Champion and two-time State Runner-Up at Mater Dei High School, finishing his career with a 178-4 record. He was a Fargo National Champion, four-time Fargo All-American, Senior National Champion, and was named to the 2005 USA Wrestling Dream Team. He finished his high school career ranked No. 1 nationally at 152 pounds.

Coughlin continued his career at Indiana University, where he became a 2007 NCAA All-American and two-time NCAA Championships qualifier. He placed fourth and sixth at the Big Ten Championships, finished third at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, and was ranked as high as No. 4 nationally. Internationally, Coughlin represented the United States as a member of the 2006 U.S. Junior Freestyle World Team.

BLAKE MAURER

Blake Maurer is the co-owner of Maurer Coughlin Wrestling Club, which he has helped lead since 2010. During that time, MCWC has developed 65 collegiate wrestlers, 29 Indiana State Champions, 158 State Placers, 252 State Qualifiers, seven Fargo National Champions, 36 Fargo All-Americans, and more than 165 Fargo qualifiers. MCWC is also one of only 36 Premier National League clubs in the United States.

Maurer was named the 2023 USA Wrestling Chuck Elvin Junior Person of the Year and previously served as Co-Head Coach of the Indiana RTC. He has also held coaching positions at Gibson Southern, Mater Dei, Jasper, and Westerville North High Schools.

As a competitor, Maurer was one of the most accomplished high school wrestlers in Indiana history. At Mater Dei, he became a four-time IHSAA State Champion, three-time Fargo All-American, and Dapper Dan Classic Champion. He finished his high school career ranked No. 1 in the nation with an incredible 187-2 career record.

Maurer continued his career at The Ohio State University, where he became an NCAA Qualifier, placed seventh at the Big Ten Championships and fifth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, and climbed as high as No. 8 in the national rankings before a career-ending injury.

MCWC COACH

BLAKE BOARMAN

Blake Boarman brings an accomplished collegiate wrestling career and deep MCWC roots to the coaching staff. A two-time NCAA Championships qualifier, Boarman competed for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 2022–2025 before finishing his collegiate career at Purdue University in 2026, where he placed sixth at the Big Ten Championships.

A standout at the high school and national levels, Boarman was a 2020 IHSAA State Champion and a four-time top-three IHSAA State Placer from 2018–2021. He also earned FloNationals Freestyle All-American honors in 2019 and was a two-time UWW Cadet Greco-Roman All-American.

Blake has been part of MCWC since 2014, progressing from an MCWC athlete to an NCAA Division I wrestler and now a member of the coaching staff.

Macartney Parkinson
MCWC COACH

MACARTNEY PARKINSON

Macartney Parkinson brings years of high-level wrestling experience and a strong connection to MCWC to the coaching staff. A four-year varsity letter winner at Purdue University from 2021–2024, Macartney competed at the NCAA Division I level following a successful high school career.

Macartney was a two-time IHSAA State Qualifier and a 2019 IHSAA State Placer. He also earned FloNationals All-American honors in 2019 and was a Cadet and Junior Duals All-American in 2018 and 2019.

Macartney’s roots with MCWC run deep. Before joining the coaching staff, he trained and competed with MCWC beginning in 2012, giving him a unique perspective as both a former MCWC athlete and now a coach developing the next generation.

JASMINE HERNANDEZ

Jasmine Hernandez brings an elite competitive background and championship experience to the MCWC coaching staff. A former standout at Lyon College, Hernandez made history as Lyon College’s first-ever women’s national wrestling champion.

In 2021, she captured the 123-pound title at the NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Invitational, winning five consecutive matches and securing the national championship with a pin in the finals. Her success at the collegiate level also earned her a qualification spot at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Jasmine’s national-level experience and success in women’s wrestling make her a tremendous addition to the MCWC staff and a valuable role model for our athletes.

MCWC COACH

CLAY CRITCHFIELD

Clay Critchfield has been a member of the Maurer Coughlin Wrestling Club coaching staff since 2020, continuing a connection to the program that began during his own competitive career as an MCWC athlete.

From 2022–2024, Critchfield served as a Graduate Assistant at Indiana Tech, helping lead the program to back-to-back top-10 finishes at the NAIA National Championships, including a fifth-place team finish in 2023. During his time at Indiana Tech, he helped coach two NAIA All-Americans and four NAIA National Qualifiers.

As a competitor, Critchfield wrestled at the NCAA Division II level for Kentucky Wesleyan College from 2019–2022. Prior to college, he competed for Mount Carmel High School and trained at MCWC from 2014–2019.

Having developed within the MCWC system as an athlete before returning as a coach, Critchfield brings both collegiate coaching experience and a strong understanding of the program’s training philosophy and culture to the next generation of MCWC wrestlers.

JADE MCCAMMON

Jade brings an elite Greco-Roman wrestling background and extensive international experience to the MCWC coaching staff. A U20 Greco-Roman National Runner-Up and U23 Greco-Roman All-American, Jade also placed at the prestigious Dave Schultz Memorial International in Colorado.

Jade was selected to train at the United States Olympic Education Center (USOEC), where he trained under legendary Greco-Roman coach Ivan Ivanov. During his time with the USOEC, Jade traveled internationally to Bulgaria and Germany to train and compete, gaining valuable experience against some of the world’s top Greco-Roman wrestlers.

His combination of national success, international competition, and Olympic-level training gives Jade a wealth of Greco-Roman knowledge and experience that he brings to MCWC athletes.
